Description
A winemaking technique that is ingrained into Veneisse viticulture is “Gemischter”, it involves a wine produced with at least 3 differing grapes from a single vineyard (and up to 20 different grape varieties!) that typically share many similar qualities, such as resistance to frost or rot, almost like a field blend.
In this instance, Zahel owns a holding of land in one of Vienna’s warmest vineyards called Mauer which allows for further ripeness and a touch more sweetness in the wine.
Family-run Zahel have been producing wine in and around Vienna since 1989 with only 1ha. They operate vineyards in all three of the cities certified appellations, Fun fact…Vienna is the only capital city in the world to be classed as a winemaking region!
This wine is fermented in stainless steel at low temperatures to retain the wines characteristic bright and zesty acidity, balanced with and a touch of residual sugar.
