Description
Produced in the Coastal region of the Western Cape, Rook En Spiels have been producing wines as a collective since the early 2000s buying fruit and wines from various growers in the region as a hobby.
Made from old bush vines (1977) this is a real rarity – one of a handful of single varietal Palomino’s made in South Africa. Palomino in South Africa was mainly used for brandy production (unlike in Spain where it is used for Sherry production). This wine, however, could not be further from that.
The grapes are grown 900m up on the magnificent Piekenierskloof plateau. Made in 100% stainless steel, naturally fermented and kept on its fine lees until bottling.
